Rention Range is a 100% citizen owned company based in Gaborone, Botswana. The company advocates for a measure of retention in the money that cutomers spend on ICT. This necessary retention range in software purchases and computer hardware can only be achieved through Software Freedom presented by Open Source Solutions.

This is captured well in ther Mission statement:-
To enrich enterprises by exposing them to the freedoms of Open Source

RETENTION Desktops brings new and more affordable Open Source alternatives to the existing computers in the SADC, and other African markets

The products being launched today are:

  • Retention CLASSIC – Open source operating system desktop running Linux Mint for home and office use.
  • Retention EDU – Open source operating system desktop running Edubuntu for schools and students at home. They come with customized educational packages for pre-school, primary, secondary and tertiary students.
  • Retention LEGACY – Proprietary operating system desktop running Microsoft Windows for home and office use.

"Thousands of jobs will come from shifting towards using softwares that give our highly qualified ICT graduates access to the source code. This way funds that are being exported on proprietary licenses will now be channelled towards the development of the local software industry. Open Source licenses grant access to the source code." said Selefo Sabone, the Managing Director of Retention Range.
